The 2008 INBA Victorian Natural Physique Titles was the first venture into promoting for INBA pro bodybuilder Warren Clampit. Held at the Camberwell Centre in Melbourne on October 4th, the show attracted well over 80 competitors.

Prejudging Report

The report we got from the prejudging:

"Over 80 competitors, all great quality including big names such as Tim Martin in the Mens Open who is 'on the road to the 09 Olympia' competing in the Mens Open and local legend Tony Haranas looking huge, but appeared to cramp a little during the mandatories.

Lots of athletes in the crowd checking out the competition for the upcoming nationals as well as great support from across the federations.

Great community feel and a fast flowing show, credit to the judging and backstage staff. Only criticism is that the athletes should be closer together during mandatories and asked more often to hold their poses, especially in the junior and novice divisions.

Looking forward to an interesting finals tonight as all divisions are well represented besides the 'Miss Melbourne' (Female Bodybuilding) division with Lucinda Hogan guaranteed a trophy.

The show had a packed house, lots of support from sponsors in and around the venue, a good loud crowd with lots of support for every competitor."

Finals Report

Over 80 competitors converged on The Camberwell Theatre on Saturday 4th of October as they vied for a coveted Victorian Title and a qualifying spot for the INBA Australian Nationals to be held on October 18th in Queensland.

Venturing into the offstage arena, two-time Natural Mr Olympia and INBA pro Warren Clampit promoted a very professional and smooth running show his first time as a promoter. MC Nick Jones kept things moving along and much credit also goes to the fans, with many staying on through to the end to support the overall which ran later than predicted.

Judging had elements of controversy with some decisions questioned by those in attendance, and one judge stating that bodybuilding is “not a dieting competition”.

In this subjective sport there will always be disagreements about judging, and irrespective of that the competitors onstage displayed great quality.

Matt Nicholson won the Masters class continuing his winning streak after winning the WNBF Overall last weekend. Tristan Boyce excelled in the junior division presenting a physique that shows him to have great future potential future in the sport, and also posed well capturing the best poser award for his class.

Masters Figure winner Karen Flaherty, Masters Over 50 winner Tony Haranas and Figure Champion Ellena Tsatsos all came in as 2007 champions in those divisions – and left retaining their titles for 2008.

Defying all preconceived concepts of age, after winning the Masters Over 50 class Tony Haranas tied for first place in the Men’s Overall, which resulted in a tie breaker in which Tim Martin was awarded the INBA 2008 Victoria title.
