The extremely competitive u/90kg class:
Promoted and MC'ed by Tony Doherty, the 2008 NPFC-IFBB Victorian Bodybuilding Championships were held on Saturday Oct 11 at the Dallas Brooks Center in Melbourne.
With two of the world’s best bodybuilders in attendance rising IFBB star Dennis Wolf was the featured guest poser with top Australian pro Lee Priest also in attendance.
There was a total of ten judges with former IFBB pro Neil Gardner serving as head judge, alongside other judges including Hardcore Aussie Muscle editor Craig Lucas, his wife Vicky Lucas, bodybuilding champion Sandra Lee Jose, IFBB fitness pro Amanda Doherty and Sharon Waters.
Adding another Victoria win to his stack, Sam Pappas won the under 90kg class, which was easily the most competitive class of the show. Sam was up againest veteran Rohan Reed, 2008 CCI Class winner Fabrice Marchand, Scott Slaman, Ryan Kho, Wadih Ramanos, Danny McQuinn and Daniel Ritossa. The 1st callout was Fabrice, Scott and Sam Pappas, with Fab sent back in line and Danny McQuinn called out in his place. The 2nd callout was Danny McQuinn, Ryan Kho and Wadith Romanos.
The under 80kg class presented no surprise, with multiple time former Victoria champion Ange Galati dominating from outset, not even being compared to anyone in the prejudging and winning his class easily. No mens overall was awarded.
The figure category saw a flip flop of last weeks INBA Vics with Sara Picken-Brown edging out last weeks winner Ellena Tsatsos for the class win. Sara Picken-Brown's strong dance background is clearly evident in her elegant and well presented routines.
With classes having over 2 competitors, the top 3 in each class are offered the chance to go Sydney for the NPFC-IFBB Nationals to be held next weekend..
Aussie supplement company Max's were giving away free 'Top Secret' bars, one of their newest products. Muscletech and BSN were giving away huge sample bags. The Dymatize booth was manned by Natural Mr Olympia winner Warren Clampit, and were also offering free samples. Body Science (BSc) and Horleys Nutrition also had booths.
Dennis Wolf was signing photographs and taking pictures with everyone that asked, Lee Priest was manning the Body Ripped stand and drew a long crowd. Some other notable attendees of the show included 2008 INBA and ANB masters winner Tony Haranas, Sammy Ioannidis and Rocco Oppedisano.
